What’s next for Greenwood block leveled by Seattle blast?

Three years had passed since Slattery Properties bought the block at the heart of Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood. The steady stream of remodels, retrofits and modernizations followed.

"We did not ever have in mind redeveloping this thing into a giant apartment complex, like so many others have," Michael Slattery said.

"We just poured our heart and soul, and a lot of capital, into that place trying to preserve the look, trying to preserve the feel of the neighborhood."

Builders were three weeks away from the capstone – the completion of a years-long upgrade to the future home of Flint Creek Cattle Co. – when the block blew up.
